Puerto Escondido is one of the few beach locations still showing relatively low cost of land and engineering per square foot. Mullen cites vacation resort properties in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, as an area when exorbitant land costs get made purchasing there inaccessible for most. Mullen reported the recent arrival in Puerto Escondido of a new hospital, several car dealerships, vastly improved alternatives for private schools for children, and a large food market chain. In addition, a number of construction material outlets have been completely springing up, evidence of a building boom. "And there's more in the process.
