The Telangana Congress leaders have told that they were not opposed to making Hyderabad a joint capital for 10 years. They urged the centre to ensure that the jurisdiction of the joint capital was limited to Hyderabad revenue division and not the GHMC limits. Speaking after the meeting of the Telangana Congress leaders union minister Jaipal Reddy told the press, “We have decided to oppose too many curbs on the freedom of Telangana and Hyderabad.” Telangana Congress leaders including union ministers, MPs, state ministers, MLAs met at the Jana Reddy. The Telangana Congress leaders sought clarifications on the GoM’s terms of reference, impact of Article 371 (D) and Article 258 (A), involving transfer of certain executive powers from the state to the central government. The leaders are determined to oppose any move to bring law and order and other issues like urban development under the jurisdiction of the Governor. Jaipal Reddy said there was no communication about making Hyderabad a Union Territory and merging Bhadrachalam division with residuary Andhra Pradesh. “These are personal views of some individuals,” he said. The meeting discussed various aspects like revenue sharing between the two states and reports that Bhadrachalam division may become part of Seemandhra. A delegation of the Telangana Congress leaders will leave for New Delhi on November 14 to inform the central government and the Congress leadership the need to announce a package to Telangana for taking up infrastructure and other works. The delegation will stay there till November 18, the day on which the GoM is scheduled to meet union ministers from Seemandhra and Telangana.
