Clipping Path (CP) can be mentioned as a vector path which demonstrates only a specific or, selected parts of a certain image to appear in the photograph. This hard-edged vector masking system acts as a photo cover. It is very often used in the graphic industry for various professional designing purposes. It refers to the practice of creating an outline around a certain photo without erasing anything inside the image. It is essential that a quality CP is applied to the images before getting the final high quality image. So a graphic design specialist will create all paths manually with a photoshop pen tool and when he is done with creating the path to an image, he start the application of CP to the image so that when the image is placed in the path, only the parts that were found within the path would be visible. Everything else will be removed and any image layout can be applied to that. A translucent layer can also be applied to the image. Process for Beginners: Any image with flat curves is ideal for a beginner to handle with the pen tool. A manual tool is used to draw the path and the paths tab is ticked on the Layer Palette. The icon New Path has to be ticked on and a default path will be created with the name ‘Path 1’. This path will be drawn with the help of the pen tool and only few necessary points have to be placed on the path. The user can create more than one path at a time in the image but the graphic expert must specify which is to be the CP actually. He has to click on the Clipping Path tab from the path options menu and choose Path 1 for the work to be done. If the value of smoothness is less, the path will be able to closely stick to the curves. So the designer needs to enter a value there and click OK. Finally, the file needs to be saved first and then saved as EPS file. To view the complete file, it needs to be printed on a PostScript printer. A new backdrop can be created and the EPS image can also be drawn over it. As a result the image will have a different layout altogether from the original one. Process for Professionals: Anybody who is trained in Photoshop with special reference to clipping path and masking will be able to work on this portion of images. Experience is indeed a big matter of fact when it comes to perfection. The final image is checked twice before uploading it on the website or publishing it in any print media.
