Award-winning college speaker, Lacey C. Clark! is going to create a conscious interruption of the harmful messages of Reality TV shows through #PhenomenallyU Photo Phestival, which will be a national campaign and movement where the general public will respond to the question, write it down and post a picture with an inspirational message and motivational quotes for young women & teen girls of the Reality TV Era. This media literacy campaign will begin on February 13, 2013 (Self Love Day) and will continue until March 13, 2013. The aim of this campaign is to cause a powerful and conscious interruption via social media of the harmful effects of the stereotypes presented in female centered reality TV programs. The inaugural empowerment summit, co-sponsored by SCORE Philadelphia and Rolling OUT Magazine was designed as a series of daylong activities and interactive discussions led by renowned activists, educators, authors, industry experts and parents. The goal was to enlighten and inspire teen girls and young women between the ages of 14 and 24, their mothers and mentors, and other aspiring leaders to: 1. Recognize and repudiate negative media images 2. Embrace and replicate principles of self-love and self-respect 3. Provide tools and resources for their holistic development 4. Expose and encourage images of success 5. Identify risk behaviors to eliminate incidences of domestic violence, dating violence, and intimate partner abuse whether it’s emotional, psychological, physical, sexual or financial. Lacey C. Clark! says, “We want to interrupt the internalized behaviors learned by young women via the reality TV shows that they watch. It is OUR duty to help aid them to ‘CR8 THEIR OWN REALITY’ amidst the chaos & confusion that they are shown of damaging and demoralizing depictions of women in today’s society.” About Lacey C.
