The recent International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated on Thursday 8th March, saw many an Aviation Recruiter and employer contemplate the remarkable role that female talent has long played in this crucial sector. However, few of them could have hoped to top how British Airways marked the occasion.
The airline operated the UK’s biggest-ever all-female flight on Monday 5th March, involving 61 women including baggage handlers, flight managers, pilots, cabin crew, loaders and push back teams, security, check-in and airport teams.

2. Mini-Conglomerate' Rigby Group Acquires Bournemouth Airport

The privately-held business Rigby Group has served notice of its intention to become a “significant player” in the “vital regional airports” market by purchasing Bournemouth Airport from Manchester Airports Group (MAG) for an undisclosed sum.
Rigby Group is based in Stratford-upon-Avon and has grown to become one of the UK’s largest private companies since its establishment by technology entrepreneur Sir Peter Rigby in 1975. It already owns Norwich, Exeter and Coventry airports, in addition to operating Solent, City of Derry and Blackpool airports.

With the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, having announced that the government will publish its Autumn Budget on Wednesday 22nd November, there has been much speculation as to how private sector workers, such as those using an Aviation Recruiter like TARCG, could be affected.

4. Loganair To Create 12 Jobs With Crew Base At Durham Tees Valley
January 11, 2018
Loganair has unveiled plans for a new crew base at Durham Tees Valley Airport that it has said will create 12 jobs. It follows the Scottish regional airline's announcement in August that it was launching a regular service connecting Aberdeen with the North East England airport.
It will be Loganair's second crew base outside Scotland, complementing its 28-person operation at Norwich.

5. Hungarian airline applies for licence to fly in post-Brexit UK

Wizz Air, the low-cost airline based in Budapest, has confirmed that it has applied for a UK operator’s licence that will enable it to continue flying in the country after its anticipated departure from the European Union.

8. Stobart Air €25 Million Investment To Create 60 New Jobs

Stobart Air, the Irish airline that is responsible for operating Aer Lingus Regional services under a franchise agreement with Aer Lingus, has confirmed that it will invest €25 million into an expansion of the business that will also create 60 new jobs.
The company formerly known as Aer Arann said that it was looking for 24 pilots and 36 cabin crew. This would bring its total staff numbers to 570 people serving its 43 routes across Dublin, Cork, Kerry, Shannon and Donegal Airport.
It has a current fleet of 17 aircraft, but has said that it will add new jet aircraft.

An Austrian court on Wednesday sentenced a Serbian-born Islamic preacher and jihad propagandist to a 20-year prison sentence after the man was found guilty of recruiting young people for the Islamic State terrorist group.
The 34-year-old man known only by his alias, Ebu Tejma, was sentenced just before midnight Wednesday in the southern city of Graz. Tejma, according to a public prosecutor, “brainwashed” dozens of young people into joining the terrorist organization in Syria.

22. Australian-born Islamic State Recruiter Killed in US Airstrike

An Australian citizen suspected of being a top recruiter for the Islamic State terrorist group has been killed in a U.S. airstrike in Iraq.
Australian Attorney-General George Brandis told reporters Thursday that Melbourne native Neil Prakash died in an airstrike in Mosul on April 29.
Brandis says Prakash was actively involved in recruiting terrorists, appearing in IS propaganda videos, and was linked to a number of terrorist plots in Australia. Brandis says Prakash also encouraged so-called "lone-wolf" attacks against the United States.
