This is a 2014 movie staring Keith Robinson as Xavier, who is a bit of a Don Juan with a plan for the year to hang with 4 women, one for each season, each for about 90 days and then take it from there. He hangs out with Derrick, as his cafe which he owns and manages, and Derrick is kind of a shoot the breeze friend who serves as an informal advisor to this process at the beginning and all the way through. Although Xavier is a bit of a playboy and non committal to start with with as he has at least some of what it takes to cast into the seas with some good results without making promises, he does have a mostly genuine appreciation for women and their friendship. Xavier though a bit suave, isn't super suave and comes across as a bit an athlete charmer with a notch of nerd that makes the viewer of this film not so ultra confident that he can get these women to hang around and stay around, and the movie goes that way a bit to where if the women aren't going to be pleased with the process and prospects with Xavier, he is going to have to do some backpedaling on those jabs, and might even get set up for the knockout punch. Each of the 4 women he does end up meeting, starting with Lisa, going to Rebecca, then Bianca, and then finally Helen played by Robin Givens, all have an air of attractiveness, pleasantness and also a degree of being somewhat not easy to win over totally. Yet Xavier has his own red flags and the mix up goes around which red flags are legitimate and which are less certain and more ambiguous as to theirere meaning and interpretation. Lisa, is the first girl on the podium and he meets her at Derrick's place, she is a reader, classy with a bit of church from what we can see and a bit hard to get initially. As the relationship takes form, she is talking of having a brood together and Xavier is getting cold feet while also noting that she likes sizable portions in her meals, and that might lead to her getting heavy set later on and his analysis is correct by what he is observing and this alone might be a deal breaker. Girl number 2 is Rebecca, a girl he meets by the office building who is attractive, coming from money, paying for everything, but wishing the worst for a couple of people she is on the outs with and Xavier gets a little spooked by her comments and rightly so. But she qualifies as saying I am only kidding but damage done although the relationship does string along mixed in with some absurdist humor which is the only section of the film that has this type of humor heavy duty. In the meantime, Lisa reappears with a new friend looking so good that Derrick wants to see her again later on Instagram to keep the effect lingering. Xavier is getting a little jealous, walks over to say hello to both, and Lisa's friend has to go and towers over Xavier and is supposed a good hoopster, according to Derrick and Xavier says no, he is uncoordinated and he is starting to have pangs about the breakup with the studious Lisa as well as being a bit delusional as Lisa's new friend who appears to be a cool dude, and a possible great catch from the seas for her and Xavier is waxing this away in the moment but if it wasn't true it wouldn't have such an effect. Girl number 3, with no formal exit yet of girl number 2 appears in the form Bianca, a smooth talking and looking model, who has expensive tastes and flaunts her tastes to the tune of bigger bills that Xavier is used to. She is a knock out, finds him appealing, but is breaking the bank already. When Xavier asks her if she works out, she says, "yeah I work out, I'll work you out", and she has a bit of a tough veneer as well maybe a matching skill set. The 4th season woman, is Helen, a local hot shot attorney, who rides right through and into their initial joint flirtation and she is a bit of a heavy hitter being gorgeous, a big time attorney and somehow available. While she is pleasant and forthright, she appears to be a bit of a climb up the ladder for Xavier and a notch out of his league for anything long term and it is a bit of a role reversal situation here, but for sure Robin Givens is looking real good in her role as Helen in this movie and there might be good reason for Xavier to try to double back to her, or any of the 4. As the 4 seasons reach near the end, Xavier laments that he feels like he is a passenger on a bus that goes where it will, and Derrick corrects him in saying he has to drive the bus, make the decisions and he introduces great advice, that he should look for a 80 percent match, not that elusive 100 percent ideal, which is only making him that much unsure of both himself and what to do and how reading the women against this 100 percent ideal was faulty and only messing things up further. Looking for perfect steps when the footing is a bit unsure is just not the way to go The advice rings a big bell, and off he goes to?
