I had just passed my 10th grade examination with flying colors, and was actively participating as a teenager in the national elections of the 1970. There was no violence, nor terrorism. It was the fairest elections in Pakistan’s history. The Awami League was the clear winner and deserved to have been invited by President Agha Yahya to form a new government in Islamabad. Let us make the history straight, that Awami League (AL)contested elections sworn under the constitution of Pakistan. Then, why was ALdenied the popular mandate under that constitution? Why was the loser be made Deputy Prime Minister at the whims of President Yahya? And why would he represent Pakistan at the U.N. after creating chaos through denial of the legitimate rights of the AL to rule Pakistan? If, the plea that AL was working against the interest of Pakistan and were involved in the Agartalla conspiracy, then why were they allowed to contest the elections at the first place? Having been cleared to contest elections of Pakistan, how were they denied their rights after winning those elections? IS THERE A LESSON IN THIS EPISODE? Anyone deemed working against the interest of Pakistan, or violates the constitution of Pakistan should be punished under uniform code of justice through a due process of law. There should be no political expediency,or selective justice in those findings. In today’s political environment, those found guilty of violating articles 62 & 63 whether it be fake degrees, corruption, tax evasion, or adultery should face law. I am afraid SELECTIVE LAW will destabilize the country, and create sense of deprivation as rightly experienced by our Bengali brothers. Can anyone answer just 2 questions? 1. Why NA-246 by-elections on MQM’s vacant seat was called in so fast by the ECP when the biggest party of Karachi is facing a law enforcement operation targeted against their headquarters. Is it to engage them while undermining their national role? Yes, it is true arms have been recovered, and it is true that criminals have been reprimanded, but may I ask why would criminals be called party workers to defame a political party, in the absence of a due process of law to prosecute an entire political party? Did this happen with other political parties in the country in the past, such as Gullu Butts, Al Zulfiqar, or others without naming them? If yes, then may I refer to the same Wikileaks whereby Mubashir Lucman stated the presence of 10,000-armed workers of MQM in Karachi?TRUE. BUT, is that the complete story, or is a partial story? Is it saying, LA ILLAHA, or no Lord? skipping ILLALAH, yes there is one Lord. Why didn’t he read the FULL TEXT of the same cable where it names other political parties with armed wings irrespective of its size? I do not want to spur a controversy here,as revealing the full text of the Wikileaks will bring a bigger divulgence of arms wing of almost all-political party. Whether, it is a ‘chota choor’ (small thief), or ‘barachoor’(bigger thief) = the common denominator is ‘choor’(thief), and the rule of law has to be uniform. The history of Pakistan is repeated whereby no one is found to have the guts to take criminals to task. Why did Brigadier Imtiaz exonerate MQM of those charges? Was he right, or the present disclosures are true? What are the standards of law? This attitude of selective justice is unacceptable and damaging to the national security of Pakistan. It is a concern for regional and international powers, as any instability in the region will trigger a bigger regional crisis. 2. When was the first time the presence of armed wing of the MQM was brought to the notice of the law enforcement agencies, and when was the first time the presence of armed wings of other political parties were brought to their knowledge as well? Was it just a fluke on the night prior to Chairman Senate’s election? Or is there a parallel in declaring the AL as anti Pakistan element after election victory, followed by denial of power? Why was no action taken against them prior to elections? What prompted denial after victory? Where were the law enforcement agencies with such information, or who concealed that information? We are protectors of Pakistan, and our history speaks volume. These words should not be taken lightly. We are not working on payrolls, and have a clean record after having served a cabinet in Pakistan. The country is bleeding by the mess created by those who are paid workers of the country. This needs to be fixed with expediency and without delay. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH TRAITORS DESERVE EXEMPLARY PUNISHMENT IN DAMAGING PAKISTANI NATIONAL SECURITY THROUGH DELIBERATE AND REPEATED ATTEMPTS.
