The signal splitter and signal isolator provide ever-increasing benefits to process measurement applications. In many applications it is often necessary to provide several control or monitoring devices in a single system with a discrete 4-20 mA measurement signal. A basic example is when a temperature measurement signal or a flow measurement signal is required for both control and recording purposes. In many cases the designer will run a 4-20mA current loop in series through the two devices. In some cases this can cause severe inaccuracies, especially when one or both of the devices do not have galvanic isolation. A 4-20mA ground loop error can render the real measurement value that is inaccurate. In these applications it is necessary to use a 4-20mA signal isolator. These can be a loop powered device which draws its power from either the input or the output side of the device. Alternatively it can be an auxiliary powered device which requires external power. In the case of the signal isolator and signal splitter solutions offered by Ucontrol both the input and the output can also be an active or a passive 4-20mA, selectable by the user. The signal splitter or signal doubler solves the technical requirement in an elegant fashion, and in addition, they provide complete isolation between the primary loop and its receiving devices, as well as isolation between those devices. At UControl you may have a wide collection of the signal splitter, signal isolator and other DIN rail signal converters.
