Hi guys, Today I’d love to talk about 5 qualities of high performers. Wayne McDaniel on high performance CLARITY, that skill of vision which allows one to stay in the moment regardless of circumstances because it lets them see vividly the end result, goal or desired outcome with a refined focus of singular flavour. Also, clarity gives us the flexibility to adjust and tweak our method of attainment so that we may give way to a higher mind along the path. I’m thinking now of the story Oprah Winfrey tells about wanting the role of Sofia in the film The Color Purple. She put herself through the audition process with a fierce determination to secure the role. However, Oprah doesn’t hear back and she is all but letting go of it when all of a sudden while riding a stationary fitness bike at a gym she gets a call from director Steven Spielberg asking her to fly to L.A. and read for the role and a media icon is born. So clarity for me is also a kind of surrender to a higher order knowing that with a powerful clear focus there is also a larger power in surrendering that vision to a divine order or divine plan as it’s been called. Next is ENERGY, having the clarity is one thing, having the energy, drive and vitality to move toward it day after day is another ball game. High achievers have enormous amounts of physical and mental energy. It’s an energy so real you can feel it, literally! It’s as if there is this permanent glow around them as they live from their highest passion and purpose. I remember several years ago I was invited to hear a motivational speaker named Les Brown give a talk. I was only a few rows back from the stage and as Les began to tell his story with these powerful threads of uplifting and truly inspiring content his energy level was off the charts! He raised the energy and vibration in the entire arena to almost fever pitch! He was speaking on his chosen field of personal empowerment with the passion, zest and zeal of a little kid on Christmas morning! So, passion fuels energy fuels passion again and again… COURAGE, courage is always at the forefront of high achievers and high performers. Courage and heart go hand in hand in fact they come from the same root word ‘cor’ which is Latin for heart. To tell the story of who you are with your whole heart. Possessing authentic power to express from the heart without fear of consequence. Think of the fearless entrepreneur who fails and fails and fails only to persist into their destiny. Thomas Edison said,”I have not failed. I’ve only found 10,000 ways that it won’t work.” Persisting until he lit up the world inventing the incandescent light bulb, the carbon microphone and the movie camera. These five qualities of high performers are all interrelated. High performers also know courage requires clarity and energy in great measure. Wayne McDaniel on high performance PRODUCTIVITY, there are those who dream and wish, and hope and imagine beautiful ideas and visions but then allow the shadow of procrastination to loom over all their inspiration like the dark clouds of a distant storm. With clarity, energy and courage we have the necessary ingredients to produce. For me, courage and productivity are twin brothers. All of us have big visions, big dreams and projections of what our future could look like. Few of us actually produce those images into a living reality. I remember coming to Sydney back in 1997-98 looking for an agent. Cold calling on agents all over Sydney for months. Once I secured an agent I didn’t just sit back and wait for auditions in t.v commercials and theatre, I began recording my voice to also secure voiceover work. The courage to move an act in the direction of your passion will give you greater clarity to seek out more ways to produce from your heart. Lastly, INFLUENCE, this has been probably my biggest area of growth over the past several years. I’m a people person now. But I wasn’t always so outgoing. As a professional basketball player I kept to myself a lot. Didn’t socialise much or seek out attention even though in many people’s eyes I had influence. I was far too busy hearing my own needs and goals to stop and hear anyone else’s. Today, I understand that listening and influence are powerful partners. There is a rising film producer in Sydney who I have genuine influence with not just because of my acting skills, but because I’ve developed the skill of unconditional listening. When I can listen openly to others regardless of whether they can benefit me or not I increase my influence. To offer without condition is to influence unconditionally.
