If you have been in business for some time now, you most likely heard about the importance of being unique and being different. Yet, it’s more difficult than ever before to find businesses that stand out and actually are different. I am brave to say that we live in times when no matter how hard you try to be unique, there will be enough copy cats to shamelessly steal your idea or message. Sadly, this is true not only about businesses, but also about job applicants, managers, employees… this pandemic is so widely spread that it reaches to every area of society and even crosses the borders. Why in the world should you try to be different if everybody else is trying to fit in? Here are just couple reasons… 1. Being yourself brings freedom to your life. Identifying who you are and what your core strengths are will allow you to stick to what’s natural to you. If your natural way is to research the information and proof every point, you can become a voice in the industry, expert in your niche or area of expertise. If you don’t care about research, you might enjoy putting things into perspective and creating systems to simplify your clients’ lives. Building your business or career around someone else’s strengths will bring stress and lack of authenticity into your life. On the other hand, once you design it around your own strengths, it will become much easier to fulfill your promises, create the results and do your work on a daily business. 2. Getting out of the box sets you apart Every industry has its own box. There’s a certain way how it’s been done and it’s supposed to run. Many choose to swim with the flow and box themselves within this industry standard. This is completely fine as soon as the standard is what comes naturally to you. But what if you are different? What if the way how you create results is different from what everyone else is dong? I strongly believe that you need to get out of the box and set your business or career the way that’s natural to you, your personality, your beliefs and strengths. 3. Being yourself helps you boost your results When you are free to be yourself, you are able to create better results faster. Being yourself boosts your creativity, lowers the stress in your life and enables you to enjoy the business or career you have. When your work is your joy, people notice and stick around to get some of this energy for themselves. Don’t ever be afraid to be yourself! This is the only way toward the business/career and life you want. Now that you know the benefits of being yourself, how do you actually discover your strengths? I’ll be looking forward to answer this question in my next article. Stay tuned! Meanwhile, I’d like to hear your thoughts on this topic. Have you ever tried to build unique business, but faced and opposition for not following the rules? Did you get stuck trying to build your business or career by copying someone else’s style? What helped you to get off that route? Let me know in the comments below.
