Where do we stand in 2014? At this point in the American economy it seems as though we are on more stable ground than we have been for some time. Still, the questions of how we got to such a low point in the country’s history comes back with a million answers from the manufacturing sector and the fact that outsourcing has nearly killed our economy, weakened our standing in the national community and lowered the standard of living for the average American quite a bit. Things are starting to change and there are a lot of encouraging things about those changes but just as many come with more complicated hurdles. The fact that as many of our politicians are invested in foreign companies as they are in the ideals of the American way of life is one, but another is that government regulations here keep us from competing on level playing field. We need the ability to reach out and grab back part of what China has taken away from the American Manufacturing sector while they are suffering the growing pains and their own manufacturing starts to be far less attractive as a proposition for outsourcing. Finally, companies are being allowed to hide under a veil of secrecy about where the raw materials that are being supplied to American manufacturers who, in good faith, think they’re buying American Made materials, are really coming from. Recently a friend of mine found out that a big American company started to run short on his needed supply of materials once the US and Russia started to butt heads. That’s right, they were importing their raw materials from Russia and reselling them as American made material. This is the type of activity that should be penalized in a time where we are trying to pull together as a nation. These people are nothing short of profiteers. We have kept ever vigilant to the effect this has had on the motorcycle industry, and again this year we offer to do our small part in this.
