The Advantages of Selling Used Lab Equipment to a Reliable Supplier

If you aren’t careful, old lab equipment can quickly accumulate and fill up all of the space in your lab, your office, your closets, etc. It is important when you purchase new lab equipment to have a plan for the removal of the old lab gear. Since that used lab equipment likely has real value on the open market, it would be a mistake to simply toss it out. However, most people don’t have time to take out an ad, deal with buyers, and negotiate a fair sale. So what should you do? The best option is to sell your used lab equipment to a reliable supplier who will then resale it back into the market. This is a great choice because it allows you to recoup a portion of the money that was originally invested in the equipment without having to do all of the legwork to sell it yourself. Once you connect with a reputable supplier, you can inform them as to what used equipment you need to sell, and they will make you an offer. Typically, these transactions are quick and easy, allowing you to get back to your busy schedule.

Good Value in Return

Dealing with an honest and reliable supplier should enable you to get fair value in return for your used lab equipment. Of course, you won’t get full used market value, because the supplier needs to be able to turn a small profit when they resale the gear. However, considering the time they will have saved you by making the process quick and easy on your end, the offer that you receive will likely be acceptable to you.

If you choose to take your used lab equipment to market all on your own, it may be difficult to track down a buyer willing to pay fair market value for what you have to offer. Before selling your used equipment to a reliable supplier, it would be wise to do a little bit of basic research into the value of your items. You don’t need to do an exhaustive study, but having a general idea of how much each piece is worth will make it easier to weigh the offer that you are given by the supplier. Quickly browsing around the web should be enough to give you an idea on the current value of your used pieces. Record the numbers you find and have those numbers handy when you deal with a supplier interested in purchasing your used equipment. Remember, the value of your equipment will not only be determined by the make and model, but also by the condition of the gear.

Selling used lab equipment can quickly turn into a headache, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Instead of trying to track down a private buyer, turn to a respected lab equipment supplier. Many suppliers have a program where they will buy used equipment with the intention of refurbishing it before putting it back on the market. Selling your used equipment can save space around the lab in addition to adding dollars to your bottom line, so it truly is a win-win situation.
