Explore Malaga's Most Unique and Alternative Neighbourhoods

Travel & Tourism
Malaga airport transfer Lukas and his colleagues can make sure that you and your luggage get to and from the airport swiftly and safely.

">Malaga is well-known all over Europe as a prime destination for many types of holidaymaker. Though primarily popular among families, during recent years this Andalusian gem has gained a new reputation as a premier destination for individuals seeking diverse and exciting culture.

Whilst the city is filled with interesting museums and sites of historical interest, it is around its off-the-beaten-track neighbourhoods where you’ll find the most up-and-coming spots in the area. Which barrio will you head to first?

Soho

After arriving at your accommodation following your Malaga airport transfer, Soho is a great neighbourhood in which you can begin your Andalusian adventure. This is where you’ll find one of the region’s most exciting street art areas.

This barrio is involved in the MAUS (Málaga Arte Urbano Soho) project, which has helped bring several the world’s leading graffiti artists to Soho in order to brighten up the area’s streets and crumbling walls. Whilst you can use the guide to navigate around each piece of artwork, the best way to get an authentic experience of Soho’s artistic identity is to simply wander around and see what you can discover!

Old Town

Known as one of the most exciting and inviting areas in Malaga, the Old Town will not disappoint. The centre is forward-thinking and modern, but still retains its traditional appeal and heritage. Make sure you head to Plaza de Constitución, a large, well-lit square which often plays host to live music and other events – it’s worth checking out the event calendar before arriving!

The best way to get to the Old Town is via the wide, pedestrianised street called Calle Marques de Larios. This street is enormous and is filled with designer shopping outlets and wonderful tapas restaurants. Your Malaga airport transfer could even take you direct to the Old Town, meaning you can get a real flavour of the Andalusian culture right from the start of your trip.

La Malagueta

One of Malaga’s more upmarket neighbourhoods, La Malagueta is home to the city’s famous bullring. This iconic attraction is surrounded by modern apartment tower blocks overlooking the gorgeous beach and attracts visitors and locals year after year to watch the impressive bullfights.

La Malagueta’s beach is certainly the most popular shoreline in the area, since its promenade, Paseo del Muelle Uno, is home to many inviting restaurants and bars.

How To Get There

The best way to reach these exciting and diverse Malaga neighbourhoods is a flight into the city’s main airport. From there, pre-booking a Malaga airport transfer is the most cost-effective and convenient way to reach your accommodation or one of the barrios.

A Malaga airport transfer will take away the hassle from your journey and allow you to rest in the knowledge that you’ll be taken from door to door with a friendly, professional driver.

Malaga is one of Europe’s most up-and-coming cities when it comes to the culture and art scene, with some of its unique and alternative neighbourhoods offering a great place to sample the authentic Andalusian experience.
