Day 3 Tear yourself away from Rothenburg and drive up to Würzburg, a famous wine-growing town just outside Frankfurt. An 18th-century baroque palace is the focal point, but there are plenty of other regal castles nestled among the rolling vineyard-covered hills. Make sure to sample a glass (or several) of the top-quality local Riesling - unless, of course, you’re planning to continue to the historic city of Frankfurt, where you can round off your trip with a visit to the Museum of Natural History or enjoy a little nightlife in the Sachsenhausen district.
