Where to Stay in Tignes | Accommodation Options

Sports,Travel & Tourism
One of the most important things about deciding where to go on a ski holiday is where you’ll stay. Every region of the French Alps has different characteristics but perhaps none are as varied as Tignes. Accommodation here in this vast ski area is available to suit pretty much any visitor, but your experience will vary depending on what village you’re staying in. This handy guide looks at some of the very best areas to stay, and what makes them so great!

Tignes 2100

As a larger village, the nightlife is perhaps what you’d expect to be the highlight, and while it certainly does not disappoint, it’s not all that this location has going for it. You’ll find hotels, chalets and apartments to suit a number of group sizes and budgets, but it’s the place to come for luxury ski-in/ski-out residences. The village is relatively big, but depending on where you stay you’re unlikely to have a long walk to a lift. Given this, along with the restaurants, bars and warm, inviting atmosphere, Tignes 2100 is a good choice for anyone.

Les Brévières

The perfect choice for those looking for a more traditional type of Tignes accommodation, Les Brévières has an authenticity not found in other parts of the resort. Although it’s the lowest of the villages, you’re still not going to be far from a lift and the charm in this village makes it a fantastic place to lodge.

Les Boisses

If nightlife and boisterous apres-ski aren’t what you’re looking for, then Les Boisses might be the ideal place. Quiet and secluded, this village offers great access to the mountain and a good choice of hotels and apartments. The budget choices are excellent, as are some of the in-hotel bars and restaurants.

Val Claret

Although not by much, Val Claret is the highest of all the villages in Tignes. Accommodation here varies in a number of ways, but not in proximity to lifts or ski runs, so whichever option you choose in the village you’ll never be more than a few minutes away from one. If skiing is the number one, most important reason for your visit, and getting up on the slopes as many times as possible is what you’re hoping for, then Val Claret might be for you. Bear in mind, at this elevation poor weather can leave you stuck inside for a day or two, so make sure to pick some place cosy!

Other Options?

Tignes is large, and the four villages above offer something a little different from each other, whether it’s nightlife, quiet seclusion, access to the highest peaks or traditional charm. However, there are a number of other smaller locations in the area well worth checking out if you want something a little more off the beaten track for your Tignes accommodation.

Decisions, Decisions

With such a wide range of places, choosing Tignes accommodation can be tricky. But knowing what each area specialises in and the type of holiday you’re likely to have if you visit should help you make an informed decision. That way you can worry less about your chalet and more about your next slope!
