Berkeley’s FirstBuy scheme I have had an interest in registering for a Berkeley home for the past couple of years. Yet, as a first time buyer, I never thought I could come up with the deposits required for their luxurious housing. Fortunately, Berkeley has launched a new FirstBuy Scheme which can help first time buyers, like myself, purchase their very first home. FirstBuy is a joint collaboration between the Berkeley Group and the HCA (Holmes and Community Agency) with the house builders eager to offer a scheme that is designed to assist qualifying first time buyers in taking the first steps to owning their first home. There were a few criteria I had to meet in order to gain benefit from the FirstBuy scheme. In order to quality I had to; • be a first time buyer • have an annual income of under £60,000 • be able to secure a mortgage with an approved lender • have a good credit history • have the ability to sustain long-term owner ship • be able to demonstrate available funds to contribute a minimum cash deposit of 5% of the property’s value. Once they confirmed I was eligible for FirstBuy, I was directed to a list of FirstBuy homes and house builders. UK based Berkeley Group then assisted me through the rest of the process and once I had selected the perfect home for me and my family, all I was required to do was apply for a mortgage of 75% of the purchase price, as well as raise a 5% deposit. Once I had all the fees taken care of, Berkeley and the house builders accepted my application I soon owned my very first home! The FirstBuy scheme enables me to own 100% of the new home, which means, as long as I can repay the loans, I am allowed sell it whenever I want. Together with the help of local house builders UK based Berkeley Group has helped me make my dream come through. I never thought I would be able to rent a newly build home, let alone own one. And as the scheme doesn’t include any interest for the first five years, I am able to enjoy my life in the Berkeley Home without stressing or worrying about payments.
