President Barack Obama will award the Medal of Honor to retired Lt. Col. Charles Kettles of Ypsilanti, Michigan during a ceremony Monday at the White House. The term “drain tile” is a confusing and somewhat misleading term. According to Wikipedia, in 1838, a farmer introduced a drainage technique to the United States via Scotland. However this technique required clay tiles that were placed together in a row to encourage water to seek the path of less resistance and run off according to the farmer’s direction. Michigan medical negligence attorneys recently filed a wrongful death lawsuit against an Ypsilanti, Michigan surgeon and a hospital for the death of a fifty-six year old woman. The lawsuit was brought on behalf of her son and daughter. It is currently pending in the Washtenaw County Circuit Court. The patient traveled to Michigan from Ontario, Canada for a laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery. 13. US Distance Runner Ryan Shay Dies During Olympic Marathon Trials
November 03, 2007

U.S. distance runner Ryan Shay has collapsed and died during Saturday's U.S. men's Olympic marathon trials in New York's Central Park. He was 28. Shay, a native of Ypsilanti, Michigan, a Notre Dame graduate and the 2003 U.S. marathon champion, hit the ground near East 75th Street in Manhattan about nine kilometers into the 42.2 kilometer race. Emergency medical personnel rushed to care for him and Shay was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, but doctors were not able to revive him.
