The Clean Plus Product Group, an international player in the industry, marked the completion of the expansion of its largest international research center with an opening ceremony in its scientific research center in Europe. The $1.5 million expansion provides 6,000 square feet of additional new laboratory, an equal amount of additional office and meeting space for scientists and engineers involved in cutting-edge research into cleansing and disinfecting materials, chemicals, wipes, wet wipes and abrasives, as well as the development of state-of-the-art technology to promote bio-degradability, ecological and greater efficiencies in the cleaning and maintenance personal and vehicular industries. “The opening of this new facility is symbolically very important to Falken Europe,” said Adolfo Faure, Ast VP of Communications for corporate strategies. “First and foremost, this investment underscores our commitment to research and development. We are determined to carry on investing in this area. That’s because innovation is central to our long-term business strategy.” The European site is the largest of The Product Group's worldwide research centers. The new facility was designed to attain notoriety for its eco-friendly environment, placing it among the very few to qualify for an award for energy efficiency and sustainability. The facility has also been designed to adhere to the Product Group’s rigorous international energy efficiency standards for new company facilities. Special features include acoustical ceilings, wallboard, insulation, solar reflective roofing and foundation products. The European operation has been a major center for materials research since 1997. It joined The Product Group in 2008 as part of a strategic alliance agreement, the site has become the Product Group’s main research location for high-performance chemical, wipe, wet wipes and abrasives, and since then has grown and expanded its activities to include research and reinforcement businesses throughout the world.
