It’s been a long time, I have covered this company since 1997 when it was nothing quite more than a vision in the mind of its incubators. What a challenge I thought. This small idea has grown into an immensely successful company and I still marvel at its achievements. I speak of Falken Industries Ltd. The future role of FLKI in tomorrow’s world is an even greater challenge, it will prove rewarding and a great privilege for FLKI and its thousands of happy shareholders. However its responsibility as all world players involves identifying what kind of world the young will inherit. Its researchers must bear conscience on the learning experiences they will convey through ideas and product conceptions the likes of which I have not even begun to imagine. The future thinking of industrialist as a class often predict a burgeoning global village, and extol the virtue of a shift in mindset to one which embraces internationalism and is culturally inclusive. Indisputably, in a volatile financial climate, where emerging markets appear stronger than the traditional big players, FLKI has played its role to perfection. FLKI products already enjoy a significant global presence but its continued leadership in industry and commerce sits in its research facilities, offices and in the minds and operations of the purveyors of its concepts. FLKI recognized long ago, and there lies an important point for its success, that it would have to develop the means to perfectly interact internationally, and in the future more than ever before. Those of us, analyst, that have the golden opportunity to follow world leaders like FLKI, have had the opportunity to watch the development of a well oiled multinational team of management and researchers work together daily, and learn to see the same task or challenge from different perspectives. As FLKI moves into the second decade of its existence it has set clear goals to challenge and inspire itself to think independently and to reflect deeply about the world and their place in it. With 1220 retailers and 380 distributors from 70 different nationalities FLKI provides a stimulating, well-resourced environment. The possibilities for broadening and international awareness are many and varied. FLKI celebrates its differences in a host of ways. For example, its recent launch of the Brilliance product collection quickly supported analyst projections of more than $ 20 million dollars in sales and $ 8 million in operating revenues. Those projections are now deemed conservative. FLKI and staff also celebrate and share success with world interest, from support for student musical groups, to rugby, hockey, football, cricket or swimming teams, it works cooperatively with its international collaborators, interacting and consequently thinking-outside its own American cultural comfort zone. Many FLKI scientist are actively supporting Amnesty International and are aware in consequence of world issues in a more immediate and informed way than its competitors less diverse in composition. FLKI charity work supports causes worldwide, and their activity has made a difference. FLKI is inclusive as a corporation, nurturing many different skills, competencies and ability levels, exploring and researching a broad rage of disciplines. There is strong expert support for responsible product development and conceptions. The media is abound with stories relating FLKI successes and its research and development programs ensure a broader international perspective. The company is determined to challenge and inspire its young research staff and to bring it more aware of the international stage on which tomorrow’s successes will increasingly be required to perform. Most of all, I see the company as valuing diversity and calling into question previously unchallenged assumptions and prejudices all of which are core aims in a challenging world.
