Hawaii has some of the best shark diving in the world. So if you are on vacation in Hawaii, you can try to swim with sharks there. An experience you will never forget. Hawaii is actually 132 islands; including the larger islands Maui and Oahu, which has the best shark diving. The islands are located 2400 miles from the continent, which gives it a unique underwater environment. You can see a lot of different shark species on shark dives in Hawaii. Actually there are about 40 species of sharks in the Hawaiian water. The most frequently encountered are the Sandbar Sharks, Reef Whitetip Sharks, Scalloped Hammerhead Shark and occasionally Tiger Sharks. But even Whale Sharks can be seen near Hawaii. The water has a beautiful cobalt blue color and the visibility is approximately 200 feet, which is better than most other places in the world. Diving in Hawaii is like diving in Paradise. If you want to try an adrenalin-pumping activity, you should try shark cage diving (or more accurate shark cage swimming). Oahu is the place for this shark cage activity. You and up to three other persons are placed in a floating cage. From here you can look the sharks in the eyes from a very short distance. So if you are on holiday and you have never tried a shark cage dive, Oahu is a great location for this thrilling experience. Another great place for diving is Maui, which actually is considered one of the top diving destinations in the world. There is a lot of diving possibilities here, including reef diving and diving near volcanic craters. But the most exciting shark encounter is without doubt with the amazing and huge Whale Shark. It is not something you can expect to see on every dive. But you can actually be lucky enough to see them on a snorkeling trip. Another and easier option is shark diving in the aquarium Maui Ocean Center. Here you can dive in the 750,000 gallon fish tanks, where you can see 20 sharks, stingrays and thousands of tropical reef fish. So no matter if you like to dive with sharks in the ocean or in an aquarium, you can do in Maui or Oahu. Morten Elm is writing about swim with great white sharks in the Shark Diving Guide.
