The Truth About Cheap Skin Care Products

Fashion & Cosmetics,Health,Self Improvement

Fancy some cheap skin care products? Why should you pay through the nose for some expensively packaged product when the same ingredients are being used in a much cheaper and lesser well known product.

When the price tag is not a useful indicator It is not as simple as that! Consumer protection agencies like 'Which' magazine in the UK have done some interesting research and found that expensive skin care items were not nearly as effective as the cheap skin care products. An American organisation called Consumer Reports discovered a very similar case. The difference in price was quite startling. The more expensive product was ten times the price of the cheap skin products and yet was not nearly as effective.

Is the packaging right? Here is another interesting example which shows that consumer expectations do not always match their judgement when it comes to selecting cheap skin care products as against the rather pricier items. An Australian company was all set to launch their range of natural cosmetic products. Unfortunately, because the packaging echoed the simple organic ingredients, the launch was not successful. Why? Because the consumers were expecting and demanding a more 'refined look and feel' to the packaging.! The company has now regrouped and is ready to hit the shelves in 2010 with a more upmarket image.

I think the above two examples show that consumers are not yet fully aware of the dangers of some of the ingredients in cosmetic products and are likely to fall for expensive packaging and/or a more expensive price tag.

What are the ingredients and substances to avoid? For those consumers who are a bit more savvy and are not going to be swayed by celebrity testimonials, they should be on the look out for ingredients which may be harmful to the largest organ on their bodies. I always look at the label because I do not want mineral oils or petroleum jelly on my skin. The latter can actually clog up the pores. Neither do I want the awful Dioxane which is in fact a fake coconut oil and has been linked to cancer, according to the State of California.

I do not want alcohols either in the product I am buying, no matter what the price tag is! I will make sure that ingredients like ethyl, SD, benzyl and sopropyl are not on the label. Why? Because they can actually cause pimples by disturbing the delicate balance of the skin acidity. These are some of the nasty ingredients which should not be in cosmetics whether they are cheap skin products or pricier items. This whole area of cosmetics manufacture is unregulated in the USA.

Check out my website below for the ingredients which are natural, organic and above all, safe. This company cares about your health and would never market cheap skin care products No matter what the price tag is, which is not excessive at all, by the way, you can be assured that they are committed to quality and safety.
