We are supposed to be moisturizing it - another example of the cure being worse than the disease. Parabens with scientific sounding names may also be there but they should not be. They are suspected of being carcinogens. They will be listed as:- methylparaben, butylparaben and ethylparaben. What ingredients SHOULD be in the nightcream? Skin friendly ingredients are often said to be the same as what we would eat. After all our skin absorbs elements which pass into the bloodstream which is why we have to be cautious. The best ingredients are those such as shea butter, avocado oil, olive oil, babassu wax, manuka homey, Japanese sea kelp and Vitamin E. All these are powerful antioxidants. A vital ingredient for skincare is a protein known as keratin. How can we apply this to the skin? It obviously involves some complicated processing and one of these is where it is extracted from animal products such as hooves or feathers. Not ideal for our skin. But a recent breakthrough has enabled a company to actually convert the keratin into a more skin friendly emulsion which can actually help to regenerate the collagen and elastin, the essential building blocks for our skin.
