Dead Sea Salt Facts

Fashion & Cosmetics,Health,Self Improvement
Dead sea salt is a special variety of salt harvested from the waters of the Dead Sea, a lake in the Jordan Rift Valley. The Dead Sea is the most salt rich body of water in the entire world, and the salt gathered from which is packed with extra minerals that make it extremely beneficial for the human body, especially the skin.

What Dead Sea Salt Treats:
Dead sea salt can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions and illnesses, but is most commonly used on basic problems, such as dry and rough skin. Some of the other disorders treated include eczema, muscle pain, muscle tension, arthritis, psoriasis and rheumatism. It is said to also improve blood circulation, promote the healing of damaged skin and leach hazardous toxins.

Additionally, this versatile salt is widely considered to aid in stress reduction and relaxation when used as a bath salt. It is commonly used in collaboration with essential oils to create a powerful aromatherapy treatment.

How to Use It:
Dead sea salt can be used in a variety of different ways. The way that you choose should be dependent on what you want to treat. The salt is typically purchased in its raw form, with fine, medium and coarse correlating to the size of the salt granules. The raw form is typically added to water to form a foot soak or a bath soak to treat the skin. It is also popular in the form of salt scrubs, which is simply the oil combined with a small amount of oil. Some of the essential oils commonly added to dead sea salt scrubs to improve its beneficial effects include peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus, lemongrass and rose.

It is also available in a wide variety of over-the-counter health products. Some of these include facial, body and foot scrubs, exfoliating body washes, shampoo, liquid salt lotion and body creams. Most of these products, however, contain other chemicals that can cause detrimental effects in a bid to sell more products.

What Dead Sea Mud Is:
Dead sea mud is another commonly used resource, harvested from the same location as the salt. The mud is also infused with plenty of beneficial minerals, making it ideal for facials masks, body wraps, skin creams, soaps and as a facial moisturizer.

Dead Sea Salt Bath Soak Recipe:
Dead sea salt can easily be turned into a bath salt with only a few inexpensive ingredients. These bath salts can be used or given as gifts, and are fun to make either way. The only things required are 2 cups of dead sea salts of any grade, several drops of your essential oil of choice and a ½ tsp. glycerin to act as a preservative. Food color may also be used to alter the shade of the bath salts, though this is a completely optional step. Simply combine all of the ingredients and mix well. Store the bath salts in an airtight container to preserve it for a longer period.

Pricing:
Dead sea salt is extremely inexpensive compared to many other products. Raw dead sea salt is usually available for about $3 to $9 per pound, which is probably all you would need for over a month of use. Products containing dead sea salt, however, are substantially more expensive, with some of the more pricy items ranging up to $20.
