Maintaining your decor For permanent garage door decor, whether it’s a pre-made mural that’s applied or a scenery that is painted on directly, you’ll want to do what you can to keep it looking good for as long as possible. Manufacturers of the pre-made kind will use a type of material that is weather resistant and easy to clean, and those who specialize in direct decorative painting will usually use high quality paints that last as long as good house paint, and then a sealer. Follow manufacturer or painter recommendations on cleaning. It’s important to remember that your neighbors will have to look at your garage door decor all the time, so it’s best to be reasonable about what you put there. As long as it’s tasteful, however, you and everyone else should be able to appreciate it for a long time.
