Success is what happens when opportunity meets preparation and this is what some people call luck. Outstanding people take far more time to prepare for success than most of their peers. Some either try to cut corners, hoping that somehow, things will work in their favour though they have not made any preparation and at the end they fail to live the life of their dream. Absence of preparation for success restricts our level of deliveries. “If the axe is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed but skill will bring success.” Taking time to sharpen the axe is taken to mean wisdom, i.e. preparation is wisdom. Little wonder Abraham Lincoln says, “If I have ten hours to cut down a tree, I would spend the first six hours sharpening my axe.” Every minute spent in preparation saves time in implementation. Time spent in preparation is not just an expense; it is an investment that is worth undertaking. And investment is the key to unlock our achievement when we maximize our investment. Foresight is one critical requirement for preparation. Those who see tomorrow in their imagination are better positioned to take advantage of its opportunities. After all, what you see is what you get.The tomorrow you see is the tomorrow you attract and the tomorrow you recognise is the tomorrow you prepare for and ultimately live the live of your dream. Just open your inner eyes to see the opportunities that abound and those that are ahead of you: then begin to prepare for success. There shall be opportunities for every sphere of life and for every profession. For doctors, lawyers, engineers, chartered accountants, politicians, lecturers, nurses, legislators, preachers, top corporate executives, etc., tomorrow. There will be opportunities for factories, hotels, airlines, banks and so on. As you get idea about your tomorrow, start to prepare now. Smith Wigglesworth once said, “If you are trying to get ready when you are supposed to be ready, you are already late.” Those who make the most of opportunities are those who are prepared. The motto of Boys Scout says, “Be prepared”. Preparation is the key to success. Former American president Abraham Lincoln, who was considered as one of the greatest presidents America ever had once said as a young man in Springfilled Illinois, “I shall study and prepare myself and someday my chance will come.” Truly his chance came after years of intense preparation. Your chance will surely come, but you will be able to seize it only if you have prepared. The question is: Will you be ready? Joseph in the Bible had a dream at the age of 17. He saw that one day, he would become the leader of a whole nation. He kept the dream alive and began to prepare. He worked hard, sharpened his skills and when his breakthrough came, it happened so fast even in spite of all odds.
