Remember the days when nursery workers walked through the aisles of church during the service looking for a parent, possibly you? Maybe it embarrassed you, maybe not, but even the most discreet volunteer can’t help but distract worshipers when he or she is searching the pews for a parent. And bless the poor volunteer who had to be the distraction. Well, thank goodness there is now an alternative – vibrating pagers. |
At most churches today you are assigned a pager when you drop your child or children off in the nursery. Then, if a parent is needed in the nursery during the worship service, or whatever event you are attending at church, the nursery worker uses the paging system to notify him or her. It’s as simple as pushing the pager number into the transmitter. When the pager you have vibrates you can quietly leave the service and tend to your child’s needs. It’s that easy.
Paging systems are available in sizes sufficient for any size church to provide a wide range of coverage. It’s not necessary to be close to the nursery; instead the whole church property is covered so you can be reached anywhere, even in the parking lots. In addition, because the pagers vibrate and don’t make noise, people sitting around you are not distracted by noise. Unfortunately, we can’t do anything about distracting people when you get up to leave. If you think you will have to leave, you might want to sit as close to and aisle as possible.
As churches grow, more and more children are in the nursery which requires more volunteers. If one volunteer has to be able to leave to get a parent, that’s one more person that has to do nursery duty. With a paging system, no volunteer has to leave the nursery. So, regardless of the size, any church with a nursery will benefit from having a paging system.
