Pukka Herbs has just released a new tea called Morning Time, a drink that markets itself for consumers detoxing and trying to avoid caffeine after the Christmas overindulgence, but still need an energy kick to get them going in the morning. Pukka Herbs is an organic herbal brand, which says it is dedicated to helping people lead a healthy, balanced life. This new Morning Time blend brings together organic rooibos, honey bush and red ginseng to produce a hydrating caffeine-free drink. Rooibos and honeybush enliven and refresh, and the red ginseng and roasted maca are a natural pick up alternative to sugar. This balancing blend of herbs has been chosen to provide a what Pukka Herbs considers a full flavoured morning brew to uplift and gently ease consumers into the day. Pukka is a Hindi word meaning ‘authentic’, ‘genuine’ or more colloquially ‘top quality’. It comes from the Sanskrit ‘pakwa’ and this sentiment of offering the best quality organic Ayurvedic herbs and service is what Pukka Herbs base their marketing around. Pukka Herbs was founded in 2001 by Sebastian Pole, an Ayurvedic practitioner, and Tim Westwell, formerly in business development for the IT industry. The ad had been placed by Tim who for many years had worked in business development but began to feel frustrated on a personal development level. The company have come a long way thanks to the support of their customers and they continue to work to bring what they consider to be the best organic Ayurvedic herbal products whilst ensuring that they run an ethical business that respects the relationship between humans and the environment. The herbs they use are ecologically grown and are from sustainable managed projects that are organically certified by the Soil Association They source their herbs directly from the farming co-operatives they have helped to set up in India and Sri Lanka ensuring the farmers are paid a fair wage (they currently pay 50-200% above market rates for raw materials). The company also works directly with over 500 families growing Ayurvedic herbs organically and plant over 1,000,000 plants and trees per year.
