The ripples of cellulite are caused when fat cannot break down and it forms lumps and bulges just below the surface of the skin. Unfortunately, it's not an even layer of fat, therefore the skin caves in between the fat tissues, creating valleys and dimples in the skin.
Some women may choose to seek out cosmetic procedures, such as lasers, to break up the fatty deposits and put an end to the cellulite. It's a highly effective way to reduce the ripples, however, it's also rather costly. Fortunately, a little hard work and perseverance can dramatically reduce those cottage cheese lumps.
There are three effective steps you can take to rid yourself of cellulite.
Watch what you eat: Avoiding fat inducing foods is a must. Make sure you have a well balanced diet that includes lean meats or other proteins to maintain muscle, but cut out the fat where you can. Fresh vegetables and fruits are a healthy alternative to salty snacks and chocolate. Low fat dairy products, such as skim milk are preferable, and you should make sure you drink plenty of water. Water not only keeps you hydrated, it helps break down the fat deposits and wash them away.
Target your workout: Exercise is great and your entire body needs it. However, to rid yourself of cellulite, you'll need target exercises that focus on the areas that are dimpled. You'll also need to include fat burning work outs along with regular muscle enhancing routines.
Rub with caffeine: Caffeine can be found in many cellulite creams, and it works very well at reducing cellulite. Of-course, you can get the same benefits by using coffee grounds. Whichever method you choose, applying caffeine daily will result in smoother skin within a couple weeks.
Reducing cellulite is only half the job, since you must also continue these steps to prevent more from appearing. While you may not be able to perfect every inch of your skin, these three steps will help you achieve smoother skin that is not marred by the dimples of cellulite.
