Ringworm is a disease produced by a fungus and it is quite frequent among people. This disease can affect the body, the face, and the scalp. Besides humans animals can get affected too, so take your pet to the veterinary for a checkup at east once a year. Tinea fungus is the parasite responsible for ringworm and depending on the localization of the disease the fungus will be named: tinea corporis if it affects the body, tinea capitis if it affects the scalp, tinea curis if it affects the groin (affection also known as jock itch), and tinea pedis if it affects the foot (affection also known as athlete’s foot). Ringworm is a highly contagious disease and in order to prevent contamination from one to another people should use their own towels, brushes and combs. As animals are a source or contamination they must be taken to a periodically check up and if they have the disease they must be treated immediately. Ringworm can be taken from swimming pools to and from dark moist areas where oxygen is reduced. Fortunately ringworm can be treated easily and there are many natural effective products against this disease. Creams containing Manuka oil seem to have proven their usefulness in treating ringworm. Manuka is a plant which grows in the East Cape region of New Zealand’s North Island and contains Triketone which is effective against fungal infections. Tested in laboratories, the Manuka oil proved its usefulness even in reduced concentration levels and is comparable to synthetic products. The good thing about Manuka oil is that it is non allergenic and children can use it too. Manufacturers have produced different products containing Manuka extract like: soaps, creams, and body oils. All these products contain different concentration levels of Manuka oil or honey and some contain even other natural essential oils to increase the efficiency of the product against ringworm. These Manuka products are 100% natural and to not contain synthetic compounds or other chemicals to make it even more efficient. Until now there were not registered any side effects from the topical use of the cream and oil. As Manuka products have antibacterial effect they help the skin regenerate more quickly and also reduce the characteristic smell given by the ringworm infection. This product is good for our health not only for its antibacterial effect by for the fact that it is natural and does not give side effects as synthetic products give.
