Phil Morris, popularly known as Martian Manhunter to Smallville fans, has made public about his desire to have a spin-off of the hit science fiction drama. In an interview with If Magazine, he has mentioned that his Smallville character is a very promising and suitable candidate if ever a sequel will be considered. Morris, a 48-year old native of Iowa, has portrayed the role of John Jones, also known as Martian Manhunter, on Smallville. Apart from Smallville, he has appeared on numerous television shows like the 1980s revival of Mission: Impossible, Seinfeld, Star Trek, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, CSI: Miami and Seven Days. He has also worked in films like Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. With Morris revealing his sentiments and hopes for a spin-off, many are now speculating if there really is a spin-off in the making. On the other hand, the actor claims that he is only assuming and being hopeful, as he himself is an avid comic book fan. Giving light to his speculations, he has pondered on the idea that Wonder Woman will not have a spin-off since someone is already doing that. A show for Batman also appears to be cloudy because of the upcoming movie. So who’s his best bet? His Smallville character Manhunter! Apart from considering Martian Manhunter as the best bridge to gap of Smallville and the Metropolis, Morris also believes that Smallville supporters and Justice League comic book fans will be thrilled about a spin-off idea. Is this just an actor’s wishful thinking? Or will a spin-off be a good idea to finally bridge the gap as it attempts to intersect with other Justice League characters. With the buzzing speculations about the Smallville coming to a near end, maybe a spin-off is not such a bad idea after all.
