A weakened immune system is a cause of yeast infections. The immune systemn is weakenend due to any number of reasons, like use of steroids, can lead to your contracting yeast infections. Weakened immune systems can also occur as a result of other health problems, lack of sleep, and stress. Sometimes recurring yeast infections which are caused by a weakened immune system are symptoms of something else. Your body could be trying to tell you in no uncertain terms there’s something wrong. At such times it’s always best to listen to your body and not to just shrug it off as another yeast infection. You might have a far more serious condition upon you, a condition which will lead to weakened immune system and which will pave the way for yeast bacteria to grow and thrive. A good example of such a case is if you have HIV/ AIDS. Most people who suffer from this condition will be subject to recurrent attacks of thrush (yeast infections of the mouth), and candidiasis (vaginal yeast infections). If this is the case, you should consult your doctor and see what it is that you can do about curing your yeast infections. That’s why if you do get recurring yeast infections, you should consult your doctor to make certain that it isn’t caused by something far more serious. The reasons that you would get yeast infections before or after menstruation are for basically the same reasons that you would get a yeast infection because of pregnancy or menopause. Your hormones go out of balance. What’s happening here, as well, is an imbalance of the vaginal pH due to the hormonal changes that are occurring within your body. Hormones are taking over your body and despite everything, will try to make changes to your body. This is where a good balanced diet will also come in handy in helping you fight off the affects of the hormonal changes. Douching on a regular basis for hygienic reasons can and will destroy the natural balance of the vagina. Despite what you might have heard or read in many magazines of yore, the vagina is a self cleaning organ and needs no help from you to stay clean. In fact it’s the repeated use of douches that can lead to problems other cleanliness. On the other hand, douching for medical reasons can help to clear up yeast infections. So although you might feel the need to douche once in a while I would strongly suggest that you throw away your douche bag, or tuck it away for medicinal uses. Use of Feminine Hygiene products as one of the cause of yeast infections. I’m not talking here about the use of normal feminine hygiene products like unscented pads, tampons and panty liners. Instead I’m talking about all those products that are used in the belief that they will mask whatever odor might emanate from your body. These can be especially harsh sometimes and using something literally doused in chemicals like the scented products are, and in such close proximity can have an adverse effect on your vaginal balance. This is not only limited to pads, tampons and the like. Such things as feminine deodorants and colored toilet paper, douches, scented wipes, basically anything that you might conceivably use in your pursuit of living an odorless existence, are part and parcel of the problem. The best thing that you could do for yourself here would be to stay away from such things, and try and change your lifestyle. Eat foods that won’t trigger yeast infections, wear clothing that’s not tight against you, use unscented feminine products, and bathe frequently so that you will naturally change out of your used clothes. Do however, stay away from harsh soaps which might also trigger yeast infections. Use something light and unscented to avoid an imbalance occurring in your genital area. The same thing goes when you’re using spermicides. You’re introducing a foreign substance into your body and you can expect to reap the benefits of such actions in the form of yeast infections. Using spermicides will naturally cause an imbalance of your bodily pH levels and if you tend to use them often enough you can expect to succumb to a yeast infection. Although not considered a sexually transmitted infection in and of itself, yeast infections can be transferred to you because of the havoc that some sexually transmitted diseases will put you through. By this time you might be tired of hearing about the vaginal pH balance, but I have to say that this is the reason for yeast infections if you’re also suffering from sexually transmitted infections.
