Budgets for school activities is always a concern for those planning them. From band and choir trips in the high schools to field trips in the elementary schools, there is always a need for extra funding beyond books and supplies. Students are often asked to fundraise to help meet these costs. Sometimes earning your own money is a requirement to participate in the extra-curricular activities. Instead of embarking on the usual fundraising campaigns, schools may want to consider investing in snow cone machines to fundraise with. Fundraising campaigns vary from selling discount coupon books to frozen cookie dough; from wrapping paper to popcorn and chocolates. The problem with these fundraising ideas is that they require selling the products by actively contacting individuals one on one. Too often, students travel door to door, asking their already tapped out neighbors to buy whatever goods they are pedaling. Additionally, it is not safe for the child to go by him or herself, which then requires the active participation of another person, preferably an adult. On the other hand, snow cone machines do not require door-to-door sales. They can be set up anywhere there is a gathering of people. Snow cone machines can be used at PTA carnivals and summer community festivals. They can be set up along a summer parade route or even a yard sale sponsored by the school organization. Where ever there is a gathering of people, they will want snow cones. At the end of the day, the money can then be divided evenly among those who worked at the snow cone booth.
