Real estate salespersons don't have quite the qualifications as brokers, but they are allowed in most states to manage property provided they are working under a licensed real estate broker. The salesperson could likely handle the management himself, but if not, the broker is there to supervise and correct or prevent any mistakes. In every state, an individual does not need any type of real estate license to manage their own property. However, they must at least have a business license to ensure that they are handling the finances correctly and everything is being recorded. If an owner does not live near a rental property, many states require the owner to hire property management services. It is important to familiarize yourself with the laws of any state before performing or hiring property management services.
