Modern Web Design Standards A basic website layout is crucial to the success of any website. Haphazard websites with shoddy layouts do not provide a positive experience to visitors and as such, can be detrimental to their existence. There are several types of layouts that webmasters can choose considering the purpose of the websites that are being built. For instance, a sales page would have one type of layout while a landing page would have another though totally different kind of layout. The requirements of each type of web page would also differ as in the case of sales pages, landing pages and niche pages. However, despite the various differences that may exist between different types of websites, there are some common elements or threads that are similar between all of them. In fact, these are a requirement based on modern web design standards. For instance, a basic website layout includes a header, a navigation menu (for multiple pages), a textual area, a footer and important or key links. Basic Website Layout The header in a basic website layout is usually an image that visually conveys key messages of websites. In most cases, these are images and fully span the entire width of websites. The images used for header should be attractive so that visitors pause and reflect. The second element is the navigation menu which is crucial for websites that have multiple pages failing which customers will lose their way and be thoroughly confused. As such, menus should be carefully devised to achieve maximum positive affect. Thirdly, the textual area is the main driver of a website since it is well known that content rules the internet and search engines. Next is the footer, which is somewhat similar to the header and is intended to graphically enclose the textual area as an anchor. Finally, the basic website layout includes the important links element which is highly useful for visitors to quickly navigate to key areas of websites.
