Affiliate marketing means paying the owner of a web site to send traffic to their products. Both the affiliate marketers and the merchant make money when someone buys the product. The traffic arrives through a referral it is predisposed to make purchase. It is a win win situation for both parties if the person make a purchase. As a merchant you need to pay a decent commission for your affiliates to make money and promote your site. Most affiliate programs are free to join. When you offer as a merchant commissions and banners or links with their code built into the link. When you sent the merchant a customer you are paid a commission when the buy a product. The merchant can set it up to pay you for every click and not pay a commission. You can send a merchant a visitor who eventually signs up as a lead. The merchant may send the lead to the sales department or sell the lead information to another company. You can do the work merchants or you can turn to affiliate networks. Affiliate networks are attractive because they offer a wide variety of merchant programs. You may find merchants with a subscription business model offering residual programs.
