You don't think about your bones once you become an adult. The truth is that your body breaks down old bones and builds new bones throughout your life. Somewhere around the age of 30 your bones reach their peak bone mass. After that your bones reverse and the replacement with new bone greatly reduces. For women the bone loss really speeds up after menopause when levels of estrogen drop. In some people bone breakdown occurs to fast and that is when Osteoporosis develops. Osteoporosis is a disease in which bones become so porous and low in mass that they are fragile and easily broken. People don't know they have it until they fall and brake a bone or hip. About ten million Americans have Osteoporosis according to the National institute of Health. You need to work on building and maintaining strong bones throughout life to prevent fractures and other complications as you get older. Osteoporosis Bones Exercise is one of the first steps you can do to fight osteoporosis. This will help the body grow more bone cells. Weight bearing work outs such, walking, jogging, dancing, work the bones against gravity to keep you up right which will exercise the bones. You need to walk which will strengthen bones and that puts less stress on the bones. You should begin slowly and gradually increase the length of your exercise. Physically active exercise especially weight bearing and weight training will force your bones to move and support weight make sure to take it slow at first. This will keep your bones solid and help fight osteoporosis.
