All of ECS Airborne Downlink transmitters can operate from both rotary and fixed wing platforms. The downlinks are optimised for Military and Police surveillance use, providing high quality link continuity, allowing for superior range and are much easier to use than COFDM links designed for broadcast use, yet the picture quality in both standard definition (SD) or high definition (HD) formats is just as good. The multicast transmission allows for low latency real-time imagery, audio, GPS data and data that can aid significantly the intelligence gathering process. A proprietary substitution cipher system is used as standard encryption. A higher level of encryption using 256 bit AES cipher block chaining and proprietary special enforcing functions is available subject to export licence control outside the EU. Airborne Downlink microwave ECS Airborne Downlink microwave systems often exceed the customers’ requirements. Because of its height, the aircraft makes an ideal location for rebroadcasting uplinked signals from the ground and ECS provide a range of suitable aircraft qualified receiving equipment. These uplinked images may either be viewed in the aircraft and/or retransmitted using the second video channel of the ECS downlink, a function that is provided as standard. ECS recommend downlink transmitters operate in set bands between 1.2 GHz and 5.4 GHz but alternative frequencies are available upon request after consultation with a Sales Representative and additional equipment can be incorporated to enhance the downlink system depending on the customer’s requirement.
