The remote switch board can operate either on infrared or wireless mode. The wireless function involves the use of radio waves. The infrared system operates on infrared frequency and radio waves on radio frequency. Basically the two systems differ in range. The infrared device has limited range of about 9 meters because it operates only if it is possible to direct the signal to the receiving device without any obstacles in between. The remote switch board operating on RF can operate at a range of 30.50 meters because of the inherent properties of RF waves which can penetrate small obstacles on the way.
