Throughout the corporate world sales teams and managers have been rewarded for their hard work and dedication through incentive travel programs. Offering employees an opportunity to go on vacation as the result of meeting or exceeding their annual goals, a number of organizations have been successful because they had a very appealing carrot to dangle in front of their employees. Working to do their best to meet the goals of the sales department, the idea that group rewards, such as a destination resort vacation is something that is a great motivator to the individuals that are making cold calls and meeting with potential clients. As people on a whole thrive on competition and push themselves to do better when there is a prize at stake, many corporations have recognized that they can improve their performance if everyone is reaching for a common goal. Working to outdo their own past performance and generate record sales for their employer, companies that utilize travel to motivate their teams, are often much more successful than those that pit each employee against one another in a competitive environment. Where everyone that reaches their goals can participate in the incentive travel program, there is a greater sense of synergy created in the departments that are challenging each other to do their best. As everyone is working for the common good of the department, some individuals are more engaged in their work and are willing to help build up others so that everyone can reach the annual goals that are set by the executives and enjoy spending a week in some far off destination.
