Driving a car is dangerous. It's easy to forget that you're behind the wheel of thousands of pounds of steel and plastic that could cause serious damage to property and to life. But in many cases, you are trying your best to follow the advice of past driving instructors, follow traffic laws, and drive safely. It's other drivers on the road that may be the source of concern. That's where defensive driving comes into play. Defensive driving is important for learning how to drive safely for the rest of your life. One of the most important rules of defensive driving is to discard the "eye for an eye" rule. Follow the golden rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Don't inflame a dangerous road situation by reacting negatively to other's poor driving. Try to stay out of the way. Aggressive driving is dangerous to everyone, but if an aggressive driver confronts you make sure to get out of the way. Don't try to race or instigate a confrontation with an aggressive driver. Another excellent tip for defensive driving is to yield. Never insist upon your right of way when challenged by another driver. It's best to avoid a dangerous confrontation by yielding. If a driver is merging onto the freeway directly into your path of travel, don't insist upon making a point by not giving way. If you can get over, do it. If not, try to make space for the merging driver. To be a better driver instruction in Red Deer is essential to follow. By so doing, you and everyone else will be safer on the road.
