Suffering from chronic back pain, a number of people over the age of 60 are diagnosed with having spinal stenosis. As the nerves that are receiving impulses from the brain are constricted the pain that is associated with the illness becomes more prevalent. Limiting the use of the legs and back, most people that have been treated for spinal stenosis have found that after a surgery to fuse their vertebrae they have little to any improvement in their movement. However the procedure for treating patients that are in need of spinal stenosis surgery is changing. Operating on the spine in an outpatient setting, doctors are able to restore the nerves to their correct shape and allow the impulses to reach their destination. Freeing up the nerves in the back and alleviating the aches and pains that are commonly associated with the spinal condition, the outpatient surgery requires only a mild anesthetic. Without spending time in the hospital for recovery or having the limited range of motion that is associated with fusing the spine, people that are having spinal stenosis surgery are able to return to many of the activities that they were missing out on because of their pain and suffering. Eliminating many of the risks that a person is faced with when they are admitted to the hospital for a spinal fusion procedure, the outpatient surgical procedure is producing remarkable results for individuals that though they would have to face the prospect of suffering in pain throughout their retirement years. With the help of doctors that are pioneering the treatment of severe nerve and spinal conditions many people are able to live the life that they want without pain.
