In every major medical facility there is a special room where a patient can be scanned from head to toe by a piece of precision machinery. Slowing moving around the body and generating images as the nuclear medicine equipment moves up and down across the room, doctors and medical technicians are able to see the inner workings of the human anatomy and can tell whether a person is healthy or ill. Taking a complete internal scan of the vital organs, the layers of tissue and even being able to view the muscles, tendons and sinew that surround the skeletal framework of the human body, doctors are using nuclear camera technology to assist them in their diagnosis and treatment of a patient. With the ability to see inside a person's body and look at the shape and size of their internal organs the work of nuclear medicine equipment enables greater insight into how the body functions and where a problem may be present. Being able to see the growth of a cancer cluster or examine the amount of damage to a liver from an alcoholic the marvels of modern medicine are making it possible for doctors to see what they are dealing with as they are treating a patient that has a degenerative disease. Even being able to scan the body to determine if and where any internal bleeding might be coming from the highly sensitive gamma camera is able to report back through the nuclear medicine equipment that a person is healthy or sick by examining what is taking place inside their body. Offering insights that would not be possible through exploratory surgery or a biopsy, the specialized uses of the nuclear camera are making an enormous impact on the quality of care that a person can receive when they are admitted into the care of a specialized physician. Gaining perspective into the best way to approach a series of treatments or how to facilitate the care of someone that is serious ill, the inclusion of nuclear medicine equipment in a hospital is a lifesaver that has been instrumental in the care given to many patients that are facing a difficult diagnosis.
