A Letter to the Congress of the United States By Larry Whittler Our Children are squandering their inheritance…. Teaching your children early the importance of family values will prevent them from squandering the American legacy of self reliance. There is an old saying; Teach a boy to fish and he will eat forever… There is more to the Father and son fishing trip than meets the eye, as a boy, catching that first fish and sharing it at the dinner table bolstered my self esteem. I was proud to be a part of the family… What a simple concept, putting food on the table… As I grew into manhood I continued to participate in the American Dream by joining the service and doing my part to secure a future for my children… I was born before World War II and was given the opportunity to grow up in America with good values; I made sure that I passed this self reliance on to my children. You can’t appreciate something until you earn it yourself… After World War II and wealth came to middle class America Parents eased up on the “earn it principle”. They wanted life to be easier for their children; unfortunately they went a little overboard. We gave them everything we wanted as a child and couldn’t afford… So instead of teaching our children how to fish, we just gave them what ever they wanted, they didn’t have to earn it, all they had to do was ask. This seemed like a good idea; little did we know that we were creating a monster. The more we gave, the more they wanted until they didn’t ask anymore, they demanded! Oops! As the children grow your pocket books shrink! The “ME” generation has arrived and they are squandering their inheritance. Now we hear the results of our good intentions everyday in the news… Now we have generation after generation that believes we owe them a living… kids still living at home at the age of thirty, but now they have kids… Wow Its’ now become a national epidemic, the me generation is going to eat us out of home and country… The few of us earning a living are feeding the many and the government is handing out freebees like its going out of style. Raising taxes locally and nationally to feed the monster. My daughter recently moved to Chicago, she couldn’t believe the high taxes… She was home for a visit, I was driving her to the airport for her return trip to back to Chicago, and she asked me to stop at a gas station so she could pick up a cartoon of cigarettes… I asked her why; she said that in Chicago Cigarettes was $8.00 a pack compared to $2.80 a pack here in Florida… WOW! Chicago supports socialism, raise taxes so we can support the “me”, could you imagine if the whole nation was doing this, we would go bankrupt just like Russia… Our generosity is pushing us to support a society that is intent on self-destruction… lowering the performance standards in the educational system because you don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings. Lawmakers supporting immigration without going through the proper steps is a method of putting new voters at the polls to support their socialist agenda. Lawmakers love third world stupidity; the lack of independent think makes them easy to control at the polls… Voters believe the same lies at every election. Allowing educators to mold our children’s thoughts by taking away traditions (under God/out of the Pledge) that made this country great! The justice system catering to criminals and child molesters by giving them early releases, putting them back on the street to do it again and again. Allowing child porn on the Internet, this is criminal, this is not free speech. You can't yell fire in a crowded movie theater. Colleges Professors preaching hate America and chastising students for disagreeing. Congressmen denouncing our military during the time of war and trying to suppress free speech to silence opposition all for personal gain. Trying to buy votes with national health care, knowing that government run institutions are sure to be a financial disaster, you only have to look at Social Security, by the way, the same politicians are saying that it is on the verge of bankruptcy. Hollywood Celebrities sucking up to Dictators who preach the down fall of The United States of America, I’m not watching that movie… Have American’s lost all common sense. Our nation was founded on government by the people, independent thinking, common sense and small government, if you want to be a socialist go hijack another country, we don’t need you in America… Take your hate and leave! Quit parroting lies, we don’t believe you… Quit making our kids drug addicts, using ADD as an excuse… We are onto your dirty tricks and Americans are getting pretty tired of your lies… If you don’t like the capitalist way of life, then leave… The mansions you live in don’t support your Robin Hood Philosophy… Lawmakers: Americans are on the warpath, you’re fired… Were looking for Truth, Justice and American Way, not Lies, Corruption and the third world way. Americans are not going back to the dark ages because elected leaders are a part of the “Me” Generation. Just a reminder its “We the People” not “Me the Person”. I’m teaching my 13 grandchildren how to fish and you lawmakers and elected leaders who don’t agree better start looking for another job. This Presidential election is about Americans, not socialist.
