Performance reviews imply the overview results on how employees or students in an organization have been carrying out their tasks over a give bracket of time. It gives a summary of the overall behavior and conduct of an employee in a workplace or a student in a given school or college. This is not a simple experience because it is all done for various reasons. For employees, it could be for the evaluation in order to check the best performer for promotion, who to fire in cases of extreme financing constraints faced by the organization or for general investigation on how well employees perform their duties and responsibilities. The whole exercise makes employees uneasy due to the uncertain results of the appraisal. The appraisals of employees are done by some employers to increase communication between them and their employees. It should not be taken as a way of finding who is weak, demoting or even sucking some poor performing workers in an organization. Overviews should be taken with a positively understanding that sometimes it is healthy to prepare for upcoming events. These events are best achieved if a thorough appraisal is done. It can be done to capture certain achievements of an organization as well as the unaccomplished areas. This helps improve the activities of the organization in achieving its goals. Good appraisals are achieved by knowing the key reason for conducting them. Due to the way they are viewed by those appraised as challenging, bad and stressful, there is the need to take a clear discussion and agree on how to conduct them and the reason for doing the same. This would avoid the feeling of being disliked and the problem of lack of preparation for the exercise. A good employees appraisal, how well it should be done, the difficulties faced in doing it and its implication to the organization is what performance reviews are all about.
