HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. It is the next-gen technology of audio-visual cables that transfers the audio and video signals in digital form which were earlier transferred in analog form. The HDMI Cable were launched in the market in 2003but they have got very popular nowadays. With HDMI Splitters , one output signal can be split into many signals and thus multiple screens can be connected at the same point of time as in electronic stores. The splitter should not be confused with the routing switcher as the switcher produces the signals through multiple output sources which can be controlled by a remote control manually while that in splitter cannot be changed. HDMI versus DVI DVI Cables were predecessors of HDMI cables. DVI stands for Digital Video Interface. DVI cables are popular with the video card manufacturers. Though they were introduced for PC connections but they were used by the TV industry until the HDMI cables captured the market. Though both offer same kind of picture quality, HDMI is advantageous since it can carry audio signals effectively while DVI cables cannot. Almost all products that come in the market today like TV sets, DVD players and set-top boxes feature the HDMI port. Advantages of HDMI It produces good quality audio and video since there is little loss caused due to the conversion of the signals and thus sharper images with reduced noise are produced. Sound delivered is clear and crisp. Use of a single cable of HDMI eradicates the confusion caused when a bundle of cables are used for connections. Since these cables are of digital nature, they work well with LCDs, plasma screens etc which are fixed-pixel displays. Each pixel can be matched effectively whatever device maybe connected with. It provides two-way communication between the devices connected and hence they can be controlled through a single remote. HDMI cables can be longer in length than DVI cables. They can go up to 15 metres of length. Also, they are less bulky than DVI cables. In a nutshell, HDMI cables are a rage today in the market for their latest technology that makes them to be used by LCDs, plasma-panel displays and the LED Tvs.
