In the Gospels in speaks persistent prayer and knocking on the door and it shall be opened. While this can be viewed as a broad exchange in matters of prayer, it might also be looked at with very specific instances, issues and requests maybe having the open door as you test the waters prayer wise. In any given case, you really don’t know if prayers will open doors, as the door is not an automatic open door. But first off, is the question of whether you should be knocking on this particular door, or whether it actually should be another door, another request you want to bring forth in prayer. I might be praying for something, I am better off not pursuing as opposed to something else out there. But the general proposition is that the Lord will have something for you hopefully and part of the view of the open door is that the Lord will have viable answers and situations that are approached to and held in mind with a communion with the person who is indeed praying about these possibilities. But then if the door does not seem to be opening, then I might ask if I can back off from this particular knocking and knock on another door. Bob Dylan has a song with the lyrics Knocking on Heaven’s door. That is all fine and dandy, but many given doors have the question of whether I should actually be knocking on them career wise or otherwise. Should I even be attempting to pursue this given path in the first place. And is this showing up as a vacant lot even after many persistent prayer efforts along these given lines? The general idea and principle is the Lord will have something for you, but what you are specifically speaking may not match up precisely with what you can get. But there will be specific tangibles at times that can be seen and known that reveal in answered prayer. Joshua specifically asked that the sun stand still, an incredible request but the tangible result in this case did happen and was seen. Another aspect of this is to bring in a more broader free flowing view to your prayer requests, as the Lord, his hand and actions are a lot bigger than you can even grasp at or comprehend at the source point of your own prayer.\ The knocking is representative of your part, some actions that you do take within the umbrella of the prayer request as well as mainly the prayer request itself. But the open door is something you can bend and adjust at the point of your prayer request by changing the imaging and working of your prayers to where you are still looking for the open door, but more flexible and free flowing and to the unknown ways of the Lord. So for example, if you are praying for improved finances, you could ask the Lord to bring channels or bring about the open channels of finances. One prayer I heard was someone praying for finances to come about from the North, the South, the East the West. This is taking poetic license on the rather simple view of the open door, but it helpful maybe to do that and describe the open door in ways that are more majestic, more in tune with not only at hand possibilities but those that seem more remote and taking more into account the possible grandiosity of the Lord in answering the prayer. On this issue, you might be looking for overtime on the job or a raise where it might be that angels can bring forth finances from the unknown origins. The question will still remain, is this the open door I should be knocking on specifically, but it is helpful at times to bring in other imagery in prayer that just about mirrors the open door image but expounds on it in your own personal view and imagery. An open door can be a majestic seaways of possibilities flowing at the just right pace and don’t just proceed with the smallest imagery in asking for and seeking the open door in prayer, as there may be wonders beyond imagination with these open doors and it is helpful to see it that way, image it that way, word it that way, at the outset of this prayer and seeking and knocking on this open door.
