It's no surprise that there are many young fans of the Twilight books and movies, because it makes vampires out to be more modernized for today's culture. Many critics have complained about the sparkling perfect vampire Ed Cullen and the ever so lovely Bella. Veronica Mordem wants to bring back the old vampires, but also deliver a clever twist when it comes to storytelling. She believes that we can have a mixture of stories about old and new vampires. There is nothing wrong with vampires walking the streets at night in 2012 and dealing with today's troubling issues, but to have them put into an almost picture perfect life, such as the Twilight characters are portrayed is possibly taking the view of vampires in the wrong direction. The Twilight Saga is a overly sappy romance series, that is seriously lacking in true creative substance. Can one take away some entertainment value from watching Twilight? Yes a person can, but it would fleeting at best. Jacob is probably one of the better characters in the story who actually has some depth, but other then that the characters are developed to arouse teen girls and that's it! As a writer, Veronica's goal is to reach the young adult crowd and give them a dark taste of how vampires really are and show off their bizarre characteristics. A good vampire story may be very dark and disturbing, yet have some romance. Young adult paranormal romance books are a hot topic right now and may continue to be for many years, but will the Twilight Saga be remembered as one of the great vampire books of out time? In reality, relationships take work and the vampire movies that have been coming out today are like blissful fairy tales, which will ultimately lead a person down a dark path, when their life does not have a fairy tale ending. Vampires do not always have it easy and young girls have to deal with all kinds of issues today, that would make a real vampire think twice about dating. It's frustrating to read a story about some beautiful sparkly perfect looking vampire (Ed), who wants to date some annoying ordinary pansy school girl (Bella). What's wrong with being anti-oridinary? What makes Bella so different from every other girl on earth today? The answer is nothing! A real vampire could be ugly as sin and have long fangs, but still be incredibly enticing! A nightwalker could choose to bite a super model, bum, cheerleader, well, you get the point. Imagine a vampire who's so hungry, he or she begins foaming at the mouth and when they speak, you can barely understand them, because they are craving blood to the point of sheer madness. Where are the horrific vampire stories that make young girls and boys cringe? What about a vampire movie that makes your skin crawl? Have you seen one lately? Ms. Mordem has been asking these questions for years and she will not shy away from writing vampire romance, but she also wants to inject a healthy dose of bloodsucking reality, that will leave her readers terrified by these menacing creatures of the night. There's something to be said about a fine film like Stephen King's Salem's Lot and how creepy the book was when it hit the shelves. Vampires take delight in drinking their victims blood. A real vampire attack could be shocking as the victim screams for dear life! Where's the school crush in that story? There is none, just a nice throat tearing bite by a powerful killer who must feed!
