The Site Control Rack is designed for COFDM Receiver Stations to allow the remote control and video interface of the Enterprise Control System Ltd (ECS) Downlink Ground Station equipment. There are 3 units which are needed to allow this function within the system. • SCR-L-C (located at a receiver site) • SCR-L-B (located at operations centre) • ASI Decoders (located at the video viewing terminal) ASI video from the Ground Station receiver equipment is placed onto an Ethernet network via the Site Control Rack. The Site control rack allows for the multicasting of video/audio/data streams from the ground station to any SCR-L-C site control rack on the network where the ASI stream is output. The Site Control Racks are controlled remotely by the ECS Site Control GUI software. The role of the software is to allow seamless aircraft reception from one ground station to another using a voting system that analyses the signal strengths from all the receive sites on the network. A number of SCR’s can be controlled simultaneously. The Site Control Rack for the Regional Operating Centre is an interface between the Ethernet and up to 8 ASI Decoders (AS-D-L). The ASI decoders are located at the point on the network where the secure video is being decrypted. The Site Control Rack controls the ASI Decoders via RS232 control ports. For networks without the option of Multicasting there is an ASI input port that allows the video from the ASI Decoder to be placed back on the Ethernet. This ASI input function is an option. Control of the site control rack equipment is via a RS232 port. The equipment is housed in a 2U high 19” rack. The Site Control Rack equipment is powered by universal mains input (100-240Vac).
