Biographies and Autobiographies teach us a lot and show us noble paths many times. The critical situations faced by a leader or a visionary are well explained. We can step into their boots and feel how they acted and solved. People expect a biography or an autobiography from the path finders or visionaries who has shaped our lives a lot. From spiritual to technical and political to social there are great genres of books to read. Few of these books changes the way we live too. ‘My Experiments with the Truth’ by M K Gandhi is one of those books that could change lives. It says how freedom can be obtained with mere Non – Violence. It also defines what a freedom is. Freedom to live and freedom at heart too. Few books speak about technology and changing lives accordingly as written by Bill Gates – ‘The Road Ahead’. Similarly the biographies of Steve Jobs speak about mobiles, mobile – technologies and building companies that could re-design human lives. What all these leaders or visionaries say in common is the strengths that one should have to change world or change themselves at first. These speak about failures, boosting confidence, relationships and beliefs. Overall they build confidence in one self. Jawaharlal Nehru’s ‘Discovery of India’ says a lot about India before its independence, struggle for freedom, living of Indians, democracy, British Empire and lot that he saw in his time. His books make us to understand the history of India and its civilization too. Similarly Gandhi autobiography doesn’t say only about his education, job and parents but speaks about society a lot. He awakens our inner conscience and makes body and soul bundled. He calls this as freedom. His books say how to treat a customer at business along with human relationships. In every walk of life we can hear him still and this is the reason his books are so popular. Another Indian Scientist who later sworn in as President Of India Abdul Kalam’s ‘Wings of Fire’ fills confidence in the youth. It teaches to dream and make them true. Kalam narrates with his own examples. It is not mere philosophy or a moral science class for schools but a practical approach to build oneself, oneness and a proud nation. After all a biography is life journeys but the way these visionaries and leaders led inspires for generations. And, still for years to come they stand as best book sellers and on top reading charts.
