Golf came about in the 15th century in Scotland where its birth was indistinct and discussed. Ancient history traces the game from the roman sport “Paganica” where the players worn a bent stick in order to hit a leather ball. The game swelled across Europe as the country was conquered by the Romans. It then later came about as a modern game. Golf is an accurate ball game where the players are meant to use various kinds of clubs to hit the balls into holes on a Golf course with minimum number of strokes. It is said that it is a sport that doesn’t need a standard play area. As a substitute the sport has a golf course which is unique in design that consists of either 9 or 18 holes. According to the Webster’s dictionary, Golf is said to be a sport that is played with a number of balls with a club that is hit into various holes with a stroke accordingly. It is known to be played with the least number of strokes by a person defined as a stroke play or a minimum score with most individual holes throughout an entire round by a particular player or team defined as a match play. The field has a number of holes that consists of a teeing ground set off by 2 markers explaining the limits of the allowed tee area, fairway and other mishaps and putting green that is surrounded by the pin and cup. The grass levels are diverse to cause difficulties or letting the case of green. Whilst the holes were being with an accurate line of vision, most holes were bent either to the left or the right. This was referred to as a dogleg with reference to a dog’s knee. The holes are also named according to the directions of the holes. If the hole were bent twice then it was named “double dogleg”. A normal golf course has 18 holes with common 9 hole course that could be played twice for a full circle of 18 holes. The 1st 18 hole golf course was found in the United Nations.
